In May 2023 Filomena Tripp was honored in the village she grew up in, Lagoa, Sao Miguel, Azores. The warm and enthusiastic welcome she received warmed her heart, affirming how very blessed she has been in life. Filomena and her husband Jim felt the love from the community. It was with deep gratitude that she was able to make this trip, a dream come true! She thanks all those who made the trip possible and memorable. In Filomena’s words, “I know God was with me on this trip. The people who came to see me speak were touched by my story.” One woman said, “Your book, Invisible Courage is my life. Your courage is changing the way I look at life.” Pictured above by Filomena’s side, vthe Mayor of Lagoa, Cristina Calisto.
Special thanks to Tony Avila owner of Avila Services for believing Filomena’s story needed to be shared in the Azores and making such an incredible trip possible , Mayor Cristina Calisto and Albertina Oliveira, Vice-Presidencia do Governo Regional dos Acores, for the Camara Municipal de Lagoa-Acores.

Just watched you on rtp acores, as right after you my daughter Nadia was on also. What an incredible strong woman you are! Thank you for sharing the heartfelt and emotional stories you went through. I certainly want to read the book. I now live in Azores from U.S. , and could tell you were from S Miguel, as my whole family is from there. Hope to keep in touch and wish you success with the book.
